Beginning in 1944 under the name Kyungsung Precision Industry, Kia got its start manufacturing steel tubing and parts for bicycles. The company even created the first domestic bicycle in Korea in 1951, named the Samchully. Just a year later, Kyungsung Precision became Kia and, in 1957, the company began building small motorcycles licensed by Honda, followed by trucks and cars licensed by Mazda in 1962 and 1974, respectively.
In 1973, Kia opened its first automobile assembly plant. After fighting to survive through political unrest and a forced shutdown, Kia came back and began manufacturing its offerings once again. In 1986, Kia only produced 26 vehicles; in 1987, that number had risen to more than 95,000.
Kia is a relative newcomer to the American car market, only becoming incorporated in the US in 1992, but its popularity has grown quickly. It’s not surprising that Kia is the second-biggest automaker in Korea. Their sales for 2015 totaled nearly 3.5 million vehicles and the demand for used Kia vehicles in Las Vegas has risen accordingly. Not only is Kia known for its excellent quality, it’s also known for its outstanding value. It’s tough to find a better used car in Las Vegas than a high-quality used Kia. Simply Autos proudly serves the southwestern US and greater Las Vegas area with quality used Kia models like the Sedona, Optima, and Soul, as well as many others.
